Highly responsive to your output, the Sonic Ultra Zip is cleverly designed to regulate your temperature. Built with ultralight Motiv™ Aero fabric, it is fast-drying, quick-wicking and highly breathable. With its subtle mesh structure, the fabric wicks moisture away from the skin keeping you dry on those steep, challenging climbs. It has laser cut vent holes in high heat areas, like the back of the neck and under the arms, and the deep chest zip is ideal for dumping heat quickly and keep the air flowing. Perfect for runners travelling far and fast, crossing contours, and weathering all conditions.

Our Verdict

Built with fast-moving , hard working mountain runners and hikers in mind, this base layer is made from Rabs Motiv aero fabric, which is highly breathable but amazing at wicking sweat away from the body, it is able to accomplish this through the use of “bulk yarn” which has a much greater surface area than a traditional yarn, which limits absorbency while improving ventilation.  Laser-cut perforations under the armpits and around the neck improve air flow.

The 1/2 zip also helps when needing to ventilate heat quickly, and has a lock zip so it won’t move up and down while running. Overall, this is a fantastic base layer, it can protect you from the hot sun in extreme heat, but the sleeves can easily be rolled up to get some sun on your arms. it works hard to cool you and protect you. A short sleeve and long sleeve without the zip are also available
