Our Verdict

MPOWERD’s Luci Pro Series: Outdoor 2.0 Inflatable Solar Light & Mobile Charger is a fully waterproof, surprisingly robust and very practical light. The super lightweight nature of this means it’s a perfect lantern for camp and it is robust so you don’t need to worry about it getting shoved into your pack or damaged in use. This is part of the Pro series so there are a number of differences between this and the normal 2.0. These include a much longer burn time, a much brighter output and USB capability.

The USB port can be used to charge up the light or you can use it to charge your mobile or other devices. The battery can charge a mobile phone up by 30-40% in a few hours but if you leave it plugged in during the day the sun can charge it continuously as you go. A full charge of the light takes 14 hours in sunlight or 2-3 hours via the USB, but in reality a couple of hours in daylight will provide a decent amount of burn time for you. The solar panel is on the bottom of the light and it has an adjustable strap which is great for hanging up and for sliding a strap through so you can hang it on the outside of your pack to charge up as you go and since it’s fully waterproof, the weather is not an issue.

The light has 4 settings with low, medium, high and one second flashing light giving you plenty of options depending on what you’re using it for. The ten LED lights provide a huge amount of light (150 lumens) capable of illuminating any tent, bothy or camp area. There are two buttons on the bottom of the light, one to control the settings and the other is for the battery level indicator. It is easy to inflate and deflate with the simple valve making it quick and easy to use at any point. On the low setting the battery will last for up to 50 hours so it is easy to top up the charge when you’re just using it on an evening.
