Our Verdict

Mountain Equipment’s Womens Lumiko Hooded Jacket uses a lightweight, breathable, ribbed fleece fabric that is designed to trap more warm air than regular fleece. Designed to wick sweat more effectively than standard fleece fabrics, which it does manage even when you’re heating up on ascents or higher intensity sessions. With a slightly brushed outer to help ward off some wind this is an active midlayer.

The chest pocket is on the small side and the length of the zip is going to limit what you can get in, whilst the stretch does offer more usability than initial glance. A standard under helmet compatible hood and lots of stretch are positives. For me though I could feel every rib of the fleece and the arms were a little on the long side to be lacking a thumb loop.
