Our Verdict

These are brilliant hill walking and road walking boots for hikers who crave as much cushioning as possible. If you have used Hoka before, the Trail Codes are lighter and more cushioned than the Hoka Anacapa Mids.

These are well-cushioned and supportive; however, if you are looking for a hiking boot that will give you plenty of ankle support, these may not suit you. Still, there’s enough support here for most day hikers.

They are a bit roomier than your stander hiking boot with a more generous toe box; this is stander with Hoka, so if you have used them, you will get a similar fit.

They have a Vibram Mega Grip rubber sole, which is arguably the best rubber compound in the outdoor industry for wet and dry traction.

I hike in non-gore trail runners. However, I enjoyed walking in these; having some weather protection without sacrificing too much weight was nice.
